Get A Life Program – January and March 2011
The “Get A Life” program is a simulated world to help students better understand the importance of budgeting monthly bills, completing higher education and maintaining well-paying jobs. Programs were held in January and March for middle school students in Jefferson County Schools.
This program was implemented by the Treasurer of the State of West Virginia to ensure that our children are receiving the best financial education available. Get a Life is a component of the Treasurer’s comprehensive financial literacy initiative called NetWorth. The program has been recognized on the national level and has become a model for other states.
The success of NetWorth and the Get A Life simulation is dependent on the cooperation and support of community members. Representatives from the community became tableworkers in January and March when the program was hosted by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce in area middle schools.

At Panhandle Home Health, we were proud to be a part of a community that is made up of so many wonderful and caring people like these students at Shepherd University! Through their acts of kindness and volunteerism, we were able to complete all of the projects that were scheduled, and it turned out to be a beautiful day. We look forward to continuing our relationship with them and LIVING UNITED! Thanks you for a job well done.
